According to reports,20 year old Canadian R&B Singer,Keisha Chante has been cast to play Aaliyah in her biopic.The movie will begin production in August 2008 and should hit theaters sometime in 2009.Below are few promotional pictures of Keishia Chante.

Keshia chante looks like Aaliyah a little bit but not enough to play her in a movie.I have been waiting a long time for someone to make an Aaliyah movie and i was worried about who they would pick to play her and i don’t think they picked very well.Aaliyah was a talented and beautiful person on the inside and out and she should be portrayed the same way…not saying that keshia chante won’t portray her that way just that somebody else could do it better.

Now,i’ve never heard of Keisha Chante but DAMN!! Just give the girl a CHANCE!!!.My GOD why does it matter if she’s from America or not?Or from Brooklyn or not? When jennifer lopez was cast to play Selena(R.I.P), she wasn’t made of Mexican/Native American decent or from Selena’s hometown of Corpus Christi,TX .Jenn’s Puerto Rican and hails from the Bronx,NY. Why choose an unkown? I am not pleased being a true Aaliyah fan. I would have expected them to find a qualified actor to be in the role.
