Jay-Z And Beyoncé Nets Arena Groundbreaking Ceremony In Brooklyn

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce recently made a public appearance in New York to launch a new basketball arena project in Brooklyn.
On Thursday, the couple attended the official launch ceremony at the site of the New Jersey Nets’ new stadium. The $4.9 billion dollar venue, inside the Barclays Center, seats 18,000 and is slated for completion by 2012, according to PR-Inside.com.
Jay-Z, co-owner of the team since 2004, spoke of his overwhelming pride and feelings of anxiousness at seeing his beloved Nets, currently based in East Rutherford, New Jersey, get a new home in Brooklyn where he grew up.

He told the crowd, “What I stand here and represent is hope for Brooklyn, New York City. I’m a son of Brooklyn, I’m from Marcy projects. I think about growing up in Brooklyn in the Marcy projects and shooting jump shots, thinking I can make it to the NBA. Now I stand here as an owner of a team that’s coming back to Brooklyn. The pride in that, and bringing that dream so much closer for people, brings me so much pride I get a little nervous about it. But I’m happy, very excited about this day.”

Beyonce Knowles And Jay-Z Shawn Carter Names Change – Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z are really in love.The couple who got married back in April 2008 have decided to take both of their respective surnames in order to keep the singer’s parental line from dying out.Jay-Z better known as Shawn Carter will now be known as Shawn Knowles-Carter, while Beyonce is set to become Beyonce Knowles-Carter.A source revealed to OK:

“They want to keep Knowles because Beyonce’s parents didn’t have any sons and they’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any children themselves.”

Earlier this week Beyonce’s parents Tina and Mathew divorced after 29 years of marriage.

Rihanna was pictured at London’s Vendome Mayfair nightclub with Jay-Z on Tuesday night (July 21).Rihanna and Jay Z bought a bar,well sort of.The duo hit up Vendome shared drinks with their entourage and spent over $12,000 in alcohol in one night.An eyewitness told the Daily Mail:

“They had two of the VIP booths, so all of their people could mingle together. Jay–Z ordered countless bottles of Dom Pérignon champagne along with vodka for both tables and the party really gathered pace.Everyone was trying to get into their area to get a glimpse of them but the security was so tight, many were left standing by the roped off area trying to sneak a peak.”

The source added:

“As she left the VIP area she looked in high spirits – but she kept her head down as she made her way out of the club at 3am, avoiding questions from fans as to how she was doing.”

Jay-Z is in the UK to promote “The Blueprint 3″’s first official single, “Run This Town” which will feature cameos from Kanye West and Rihanna.
