Fantasia Barrino Joining The Colour Purple Movie

It is being reported that Fantasia Barrino is in heavy talks with Oprah Winfrey to take the leading role on a film version of Broadway musical The Colour Purple.Barrino told MTV:

“That’s going to happen and I’m going to do it,” .

Barrino who recently ended her gig playing Celie in the stage version,added:

“We haven’t started yet because I’m going to work on my album. I think it’s fair that I committed myself, and promised that after I finish going on a tour, I’ll be ready to come back and commit myself to Miss Celie again.”"They [the producers] are going to work with me. They don’t have to [but] that’s a favour. Working with someone like Miss Oprah who’s so talented and amazing – it’s a blessing.”

Fantasia Barrino Missed 50 Performances In “The Color Purple”

American Idol 3 winner Fantasia Barrino has missed 50 performances since being casted in the leading role in “The Color Purple”.
It is being reported that when Barrino dropped last Friday’s performance she created chaos in the lobby of the Broadway Theatre to find a replacement.
Since Barrino started dropping performances, producers have refunded tens of thousands of dollars worth of tickets.
