Denzel Washington, appeared on Monday’s “Early Show”,he discussed Martin Luther King, Jr. Day,family and Malcom X.Here are some excerpts of what he had to say.
On his children:
“I try to teach my children there are going to be obstacles,”"Someone may not like you just because they don’t like themselves. But, don’t you get bogged down.”
Washington who has four children with wife Pauletta: John David, 23, Katia, 20, and Olivia and Malcolm, both 16 also added:
“Don’t be a hater. Don’t let hatred destroy you. Overcome it, move on, educate them, if you will.”
The actor, who played civil-rights icon Malcolm X in the 1992 movie, concluded that when he was growing up, his family talked about King, Jr. and the 1960s civil rights movement.

Halle Berry and her boyfriend Gabriel Aubry were pictured out furniture shopping for their baby in Beverly Hills, CA,yesterday.
Halle has recently revealed that she is desperate to work with Denzel Washington if a right script comes her way. Berry said:
“I still want to work with Denzel Washington. I’m hoping that one day the right script will come along and Denzel will give me a call,”
Halle seems quite convinced that the pair would do a good job,and judging by Denzel’s performances so do we.

Dreamgirl Jennifer Hudson,Gail King,Samuel L Jackson and Kimberly Elise attended the event.
Denzel returns on Christmas Day with a double role as actor and director of the story about a championship debate team from an all-black college in 1935.
Washington has been getting Oscar buzz for his latest movie American Gangster.

Oprah Winfrey and Denzel Washington are on the cover of the new issue of Parade magazine.Denzel Washington played in and directed a new movie called “The Great Debaters” that was produced by Oprah Winfrey.According to CBS:
The film tells the real life story how Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College Texas, spearheaded the school’s newly formed debate team into stardom in 1935 by leading the squad to the national championships against Harvard.
“The Great Debaters” will hit theaters on Dec. 25,2007.
