Aretha Franklin Slams Beyonce For Calling Tina Turner ‘The Queen’

Aretha Franklin,Beyonce Knowles and Tina Turner were all photographed performing at the 50th Grammy Awards in Los Angles on Sunday.Aretha Franklin is upset at Beyonce Knowles and the writers of the Grammys for introducing Tina Turner as “the queen” during Sunday night’s Grammy Awards.Franklin, who is long known as the Queen of Soul said in a statement earlier today:

“I am not sure whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce,” “However I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy.“In addition to that, I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love to Beyonce anyway.”

Franklin won a Grammy for the best gospel performance for “Never Gonna Break My Faith,” her duet with Mary J. Blige.

    Beyonce was quite right to refer to Tina Turner as the Queen…She is…The Queen of Rock…not only that, she could seriously be considered a contender for the Queen of Soul as well.

    Step aside, Aretha…The true Queen has class.
